I love a pumpkin muffin with coffee on a brisk autumn day!  Pumpkin pie spice tastes and smells like fall.

Classic pumpkin-spiced muffins are baked to perfection with Nutella on top.  These pumpkin Nutella muffins are easy to make and excellent for breakfast or lunch.

Muffins are light and fluffy thanks to baking powder and soda.  Baking powder and soda leaven muffins by producing gases.

Too little will not give the muffins enough rise, while too much will cause them to rise quickly and crash. These muffins contain ground cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.

These fall spices are also in pumpkin pie spice.  Pumpkin pie spice can replace 1 3/4 teaspoons of the spices in this recipe.

These muffins use granulated sugar, like other muffins.  A 50/50 mix of brown and granulated sugar adds richness to the pumpkin flavour.  Your muffins will also be moister.

To make pumpkin puree, choose a baked pumpkin.  Wait, what?  Are those different from pumpkin patch ones?  It is!   Carving pumpkins for jack-o'-lanterns are available in the patch or outside supermarkets.  These pumpkins have less flesh and thinner skin, making them easier to carve.  They are also more watery.
